Quality Assurance
Given that the intention of the IEB is to offer this quality qualification outside the borders of South Africa, and the rising importance of external quality assurance, the IEB has engaged with Stellenbosch University to take on the role of quality assurance for the ISC qualification.
Stellenbosch University is an internationally recognised institution and is amongst South Africa's leading tertiary institutions based on research output, student pass rates and rated scientists. It is recognised internationally as an academic institution of excellence. In addition, through Stellenbosch International, the university works with over 100 partner institutions across the world and houses the African Doctoral Academy, establishing itself as an institution dedicated to high quality education in Africa.

Assurance of the IEB-ISC Quality
The reputation of the IEB as an assessment agency that offers credible assessment as well as examinations that are considered to be of a very high quality not only in content and approach, but also in respect of accuracy in marking and resulting.
This reputation results primarily from a range of rigorous quality assurance processes, internal to the IEB.

Governance of the IEB-ISC
Governance in respect of the conduct of the IEB-ISC will fit within the current governance structures of the IEB.
Its implementation will follow the internal quality assurance systems that apply to the IEB’s other assessments, i.e. all systems, processes and procedures used in the conduct of the IEB-ISC will be the same as or comparable, as necessary, to those used in the implementation of other IEB assessments, including the NSC.

Recognition of the ISC
A matriculation exemption is a legal requirement for first-degree study at a South African university. International students wishing to register for first-degree studies in South Africa must have their school qualifications evaluated by the Matriculation Board that will then issue a certificate of exemption to those who qualify.
The fact that the ISC has been evaluated by USAf and considered to meet the requirements for entry to tertiary institutions, both public and private, in South Africa is a significant indicator of its quality.
